Te Kahu Tōpuni Kapa Haka Festival

A vibrant celebration of tamariki, culture and identity, Te Kahu Tōpuni Kapa Haka Festival brings together primary schools from across Tāmaki Makaurau in a joyful, non-competitive showcase of kapa haka. Through waiata, haka, poi and mōteatea, young performers celebrate the stories of Tāmaki Makaurau. Filled with pride, energy and heart, this is a festival where confidence grows, friendships flourish, and the future of kapa haka shines brightly. This is an opportunity for kura to strengthen relationships with tangata whenua by learning narratives that pertain to these very lands and remember and commemorate the beginnings of our beautiful city, Auckland. This event is part of the Poumatua Festival which is a three-day celebration of the birth of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.
